ITANAGAR, May 2: The Department of Public Libraries accorded an affectionate adieu to Jotom Borang, the longest serving Director of Public Libraries on his superannuation after rendering more than 38 years of active service to the state.
Borang, who joined the service in 1984, was promoted to the post of Director, Public Libraries in December 2007.
The officers and staff of the Department of Public Libraries, in an impressive farewell function here on Friday last, gave a warm send-off to their beloved director and recalled his outstanding contributions to the department.
Attending the event, Secretary (Cultural Affairs) Tai Kaye expressed gratitude to Borang for his numerous contributions towards the department and extended his best wishes for his post retirement life.
Director (Gazetteers) Sokhep Kri, who was also present at the function, wished Borang a healthy and prosperous post retirement life.
Senior officers of the Public Libraries Department including its Deputy Directors Gaga Taggu Jini and Yanga Rigiya Ete also spoke on the occasion and wished him a happy and fulfilling life.
