ITANAGAR, Mar 9:The 132 KV Ziro-Daporijo transmission line suffered major damages on March 6 due to severe cyclonic storm. On account of this, part of the state from Lower Subansiri to Anjaw districts went under power outage. Damages were caused to tower no. 55, 56 & 57 located at around 17 KMs from Ziro. Damage to tower no.56 is severe which shall require total replacement of tower arm and tower parts, an official release informed.
In view of the urgency particularly because of the ongoing CBSE board examinations, the Department of Power immediately pressed men into service and restored the line on temporary basis using available resources on Thursday.
For permanent restoration, necessary processes of design and procurement of proper and specified spares of faulty/damaged components have already been initiated. The line will be restored to its normal state once the spares arrive at site, the department further informed.
