ITANAGAR, Mar 5:

 

Relationship between Arunachal and Assam can only be possible if the people of both sides have good and cordial bond with exchange of age-old culture and tradition, said APCC President Ripun Bora today.

APCC President cum Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Ripun Bora was addressing a huge gathering of people of both sides of the inter-state boundary at Hollongi on the second day of the inter exchange cultural programme.

‘I agree that Assam is like an elder brother and we also wish that Arunachal should be a younger brother and both join hands for development,’ Bora said.

 

Responding to the memorandum submitted by the organising committee, Bora assured to provide fifteen lakhs for developing infrastructure for the event and requested the committee to submit the DPR before April 17 next.

Guest of honour, Former Chief Minister cum Sagalee MLA, Nabam Tuki in his address said that the inter -state cultural exchange programme is a great opportunity and will strengthen ties between both states.

‘There might be petty differences arising out of few incidents which harms and damages the relationship between both states. Due to emergence of social media such incidents also add fuel to fire which needs to be understood by the people,’ Tuki said while appealing for communal harmony.

Inter-state indigenous cultural heritage development society (ISICHDS) President Tana Puna Tara, Secretary General Budhiram Basumatary also addressed the gathering and elaborated their humble initiative for unification and cultural exchange among various communities living along both sides of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

Various cultural programmes were performed by troupes including team from Arunachal Artist Forum led by its President Bamang Loram.
