JE recruitment standoff

ITANAGAR, Jul 31:A conglomeration of organizations under the banner of Joint core committee (JCC) on Monday has questioned Chief Minister Pema Khandu for cancelling the departmental recruitment of JEs under Rural Works Department (RWD) just three days prior to the scheduled examination and hastily handing it over to the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission for further process.
Terming it against the likes of hundreds of aspirants who had been preparing for the said examination since months, the organization while seeking clarification within 7 days has cautioned to stage a hunger strike to press for their demands.
Addressing a press conference this afternoon at press club, Vice-Chairman (JCC), Goda Dinung accused Chief Minister for arbitrarily taking the decision without thinking of the hundreds of poor unemployed engineers, who had been preparing for the examination incurring huge expenditures.
Recalling the CM’s speech during the last Statehood Day celebration, where Khandu first made a call to do away with the department recruitment of Group –B (non gazette) Group –C and MTS personnel and conduct it through APPSC for fair and free recruitment, Dinung questioned ‘why did the CM not cancel when the notification for JEs post was advertised in all local dailies on February 22 last, two days after his speech?’
“And the Cabinet decision to do away with Departmental recruitment was notified on July 4 last. So there is no point to cancel the recruitment process. The decision was not planned, but taken for personal gain and to appease few influential people,” he added.
Clarifying that the committee is not against departmental recruitment being handed over to APPSC, Dinung asserted that the new development has directly or indirectly demoralized many aspirants especially those candidates, who will cross the age-limit to sit in the examination, if process is delayed more.
“We want to know why the CM has remained silent for last few months and why all of a sudden he had given direction that too in a short period of time to cancel the recruitment. We are ready to have a roundtable debate with the CM and Chief Secretary to discuss the issue if needed,” added Dinung.
Claiming that APPSC which is already facing severe shortage of manpower will be over burdened, the committee said that the recruitment through the Commission would take months as already numerous advertisements for various posts are pending before the commission.
Further the committee also condemned the CMO and Cabinet affairs department for not furnishing documents related to the cabinet decisions taken on February 7 last despite filing an RTI.
