NAMSAI, Jul 31: Deputy Commissioner, Namsai RK Sharma has expressed dismay over the fact that benefits of Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Yojana (CMAAY), the cashless healthcare scheme of the state government hasn’t reached the targeted beneficiaries in Namsai district due to lack of awareness among people.
“The district’s people haven’t made an optimum use of CMAAY due to lack of awareness and poor patients at the time of critical cases ask for treatment costs from the health department, relatives or public leaders. Government has launched the cashless scheme to provide help to the marginalized and impoverished, but its benefits haven’t been availed in the district probably due to lack of understanding,” the DC said. He has suggested the officials especially the EACs to generate comprehensive Block-level sensitisation and make it mandatory that ration cards as a document will be enough to allot the CMAAY cards.
CMAAY was launched in 2018 by Chief Minister Pema Khandu with the objective of providing financial assistance up to Rs 5 lakhs to the socially and economically backward sections in the state for their healthcare needs. It has set a target of achieving ‘healthcare for all’ by 2030 through filling the gaps in secondary and tertiary healthcare in the state and increasing the efficiency of the public healthcare system.
As of now, 24 hospitals have been empanelled under CMAAY, three within the state and 21 outside.
