ITANAGAR, Feb 5:
Moving on with the cleanliness drive under the theme ‘Hamara Elan Swachhta aur Nari Utthan’, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh BD Mishra along with Raj Bhavan officers and staff participated in the Swachh Abhiyan at Lower Vivek Vihar in the state capital today.
Exhorting people to work with determination, Mishra asserted that cleanliness drive should continue till the mindset of the people adapt to the habit of keeping the area clean. He suggested the Itanagar Municipal Council officials to involve senior citizens and students in the Swachhta Abhiyan.
Councillor Taba Yall Nabam, along with members of the NGO ‘Sangtam Ajen’, Chief Municipal Executive Officer, Itanagar Municipal Council Dr. Olik Taring and other volunteers participated in the cleanliness drive.
The participants said that they are encouraged by the passionate involvement of the Governor and promised to put in their best effort to maintain cleanliness of the Capital Complex.
Later, accompanied by Chief Municipal Councillor Kipa Kaku, Deputy Chief Municipal Councillor Tarh Nachung and Itanagar Municipal Council officials inspected few of the public utility projects.
Interacting with participants and the Itanagar Municipal Council officials, the Governor emphasised on public toilets and said that it should be located at in busy public places and crowded shopping areas. He advised them that public toilets should be user friendly and have separate facilities for ladies, gents and physically challenged persons.
The Governor also visited the proposed places for public toilets and suggested changes in keeping with the need of the general public.
