KHONSA, Mar 9: A national integration tour for the children of Tirap District as a part of OP Samaritan-17 was flagged off from Khonsa today. The aim of the tour is to acquaint the children of far- flung areas with the vast and rich cultural heritage of our country.

Altogether 24 children and 3 teachers from 10 Government Schools, are participating in the tour which will visits various places of historic importance in Delhi and Lucknow. The students will also interact with President of India Pranab Mukherjee, MoS (Home), Kiren Rijiju and Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Bipin Rawat.

The tour was flagged-off by the Deputy Commissioner Ravi Jha and Brigadier Sanjay Ghosh, Commander 117 mountain brigade.

In his speech the DC appreciated the Army of 117 mountain brigade for organising National Integration Tour for the children of Tirap District which he said will help to acquire knowledge about the history of India.

The ceremony was attended by SP Tirap, JK Meena, IPS, CO 16 Assam Rifles, various dignitaries and officials of civil administration, parents and locals of Likhapani.
