ITANAGAR, Mar 8: Dismissing reports in certain section of media about Arunachal Pradesh BJP President Tapir Gao being detained at Guwahati Airport in connection with carrying huge cash, the state BJP termed the media report as unfounded and politically motivated.

Gao has denied travelling with huge cash. ‘I was carrying some cash for my personal expenditure with valid documents and officials were satisfied and allowed me to proceed further,’ said Gao who reached Itanagar the very same day the incident reportedly took place.

'President Gao, travelling from Imphal to Guwahati, was neither arrested nor detained for interrogation as reported,' said General Secretary Biu Ram Waghe while adding, no CISF or Assam Police personnel were present.

Acknowledging that Gao carried his personal cash, Waghe explained, 'Income tax officials at Guwahati had no business since Arunachal Pradesh is a scheduled area and Gao is exempted from any income tax as per the law.'

Sniffing political motive behind spread of such news, Waghe questioned, 'Assam is not an election bound state so why didn't Manipur airport officials act rather than tipping Guwahati Airport?'

'Rattled by five hard hitting rallies done by Tapir Gao in four days, whatever happened is a handiwork of some Congress stooge,' said Waghe while adding that Gao, who had been in charge of Manipur BJP for 11 years; and during the recent election rallies, Gao had called Manipur Congress Chief Minister Ibobi Singh as "Chief of all militant organisations and most corrupted leader".

APCC demands immediate enquiry

The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee today said that the hidden agenda of BJP party has been exposed after State Unit BJP President Tapir Gao was caught with huge amount of cash at Guwahati Airport.

Questioning the purpose behind carrying the huge amount, the APCC said BJP is talking about cashless economy in the country, whereas their own leader was caught carrying huge amount of cash.  Let’s see what action Modi will take against his own leader.

APCC has demanded an immediate enquiry in the matter and also urged the Election Commission of India to take up the matter for appropriate action.

Undoubtedly, the BJP is pumping huge money through its leader for victory of BJP in the Manipur Assembly Election. The looting of public money by the BJP party and its leaders for their own vested interest instead of working for the development and welfare of the people is really unfortunate. BJP is befooling the common masses again and again in the name of “Acche Din”, which is a distant dream in the BJP regime.
