ES Reporter

ITANAGAR, Jan 11: In the wake of the 36-hr bandh called by the All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) from January 13 in the Itanagar Capital Region, the legislators from Nyishi community today univocally denounced the bandh call against the government terming the demand as "illogical and illegitimate as well as not in the interest of the Nyishi community."
Speaking to reporters,  MLA Chayangtajo, Hayeng Mangfi said that the elected representatives have urged the office of the Nyishi Elite Society (NES )to derecognize the incumbent ANYA team led by Byabang Joram.
"Nyishi legislators are loud and clear that we are with the government and Chief Minister Pema Khandu led government as there is no iota of truth in the allegation leveled by ANYA," Mangfi said.
The legislators also urged the apex organization of the community, the Nyishi Elite Society (NES) to persuade the All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) to withdraw the bandh call.
" In the event of failure to abide by our request, the Nyishi legislators shall not be held responsible if the government takes stern legal action against the enforcers of illegal and undemocratic bandh call as per the law of the land," asserted  Mangfi.
Minister Mama Natung also added that “all the legislators from the community stands strong with the state government and urged the public not to support the bandh call."
Home Minister Bamang Felix, Education Minister Taba Tedir, Sports Minister Mama Natung and MLAs Balo Raja, Lokam Tassar, Tarin Dakpe, Jike Tako, Tapuk Taku, Goruk Pordung  and Techi Kaso attended the press briefing held at State Legislative Assembly Campus today.

Strict legal action to be taken against bandh enforcers: Felix

ITANAGAR: Home Minister cum government spokesperson, Bamang Felix today asserted that ‘the allegations made against Chief Minister Pema Khandu by ANYA are vague and imaginary without any basis."

Stating that bandh calls hamper the economic affairs of the state causing unnecessary harassment to the common people, the Minister said that despite repeated invitations for clarification, the ANYA team did not turn up for reasons best known to them. "It appears that the main motive is to create disharmony in the state. "If the unconstitutional bandh call is not withdrawn immediately, strict legal action will be taken against the enforcers," said Felix.

"We appeal the ANYA team to call off the bandh and come forward for talks. The state government is always ready to accommodate them for a healthy discussion and sort out the issues through dialogue" he said.
While clarifying on the creation of separate Chief Engineer NorthWest Zone (CE NWZ), Felix stated "It is not necessary to point out that our state is the largest in northeast India and most sparsely populated state in the country. Taking governance and development to the doorsteps of each citizen is the mandate and duty of the government. It was a conscious decision of the government to decentralize governance and ensure ease of living of all our citizens."
On the allegation of DoKAA, Department of Tawang& West Kameng and Department of Bhoti Language, Felix termed the allegation as totally misleading, as there is no such department as Department of Tawang& West Kameng and Department of Bhoti Language.
"Such unfounded allegations to disrupt our age-old tribal harmony is a very dangerous trend. We must all disown such tendencies with narrow disturbing agendas outrightly," he asserted.
He also clarified that under SIDF, LoC of Rs.2269.27 Crore was released to various works departments for the period from FY 2017-18 to FY 2020-21. Further, during FY 2020-21, additional LoC authorization of Rs.752.79 Crore was provided against pending liabilities of SIDF and Additional RE of 2017-18 and 2018-19. Almost aall liabilities under SIDF and RE have been cleared, so there is no question of partiality in terms of development. On allegations of misappropriation of funds,Felix stated "our government is a transparent one and any allegations of misappropriations of funds are open to scrutiny."

NES asks ANYA, state government to resolve issue

ITANAGAR, Jan 11: Nyishi Elite Society (NES) has urged  both All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) and the state government to sit down and resolve the issue.
Addressing a press conference, President NES,  Bengia  Tolum  expressed disappointment that in spite of repeated suggestions and advice to drop the issue, ANYA went ahead and declared the bandh.
“We made three pertinent points in the joint meeting with ANYA- that the issues taken up by them cannot be held as community issues, to rethink whether to carry forward the issues and that if the situation warrants NES will be bound to make our stand clear,"added Tolum.
“Our conviction is that due to the ego problem of the state government and ANYA, the general people should not be victimized. The state government as the peoples’ representative should invite ANYA to hear their grievances as keeping silent is not a solution,” said Tolum.
The community shall not be held responsible for any untoward incident due to the involvement of anti-social elements or external forces, said NES vice president Tarh Tabin while reiterating  its appeal to ANYA to withdraw the bandh. “We hope that Byabang Joram, being a mature youth leader and former president of ANSU, shall definitely take positive strides in the greater interest of the community and thereby call off the bandh call,” Tabin said.
