ITANAGAR, Aug 16: Along with the rest of the nation, Arunachal Pradesh observed the 75th Independence Day following all Covid-19 SOPs. The main celebration was held at Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar; considering the COVID-19 pandemic, the celebration was brief without the usual extravaganza.
Greeting the people, Chief Minister Pema Khandu in his address said, ”75 years ago, on this auspicious day, we the citizens of this great nation had pledged to build an India of the dream of our forefathers. After 75 years, we can say with pride that we have come a long way, making significant achievements in every field. Under the leadership of our visionary Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, the country has witnessed an unprecedented development during last few years.”
Showcasing his government’s achievements in his speech, the Chief Minister said that 52 Small Khelo India Centres will be set up across the state to strengthen sports at grassroots level. To boost Rural Economy 3903 Self Help groups have been formed in the state. These SHGs have 34000 plus women members. In order to engage these SHGs in economic activities, seed capital through financial institutions have been extended to 1271 SHGs with Rs. 1 Lakh per group. Further the Government is proposing to assist them through Bank credit as well as grant to enable them to undertake more economic activities and make them AtmaNirbhar.
On rail connectivity, Khandu said that surveys of 3 projects namely, Pasighat-Tezu-Rupai (227 kms), Lekhapani-kharsang (26 kms) and Marghareta-Deomali (26 kms) are complete and reports have been submitted to Railway board. Work on Survey of Misamari to Tawang (198 kms) and North Lakhimpur-Bame- Silapathar (87 kms) is going on.
‘It is a matter of pride for us that in-spite of the pandemic, leading to disruption of supply-chain, around 1,500 km of road length under PMGSY was completed in 2020-21. If we add roads constructed by PWD, BRO and others, then a total of more than 2,000 km of roads were completed in 2020- 21 with an average of 5.5 lane km per day. We have been able to connect 16 districts through the nearly 2,400 KM long Trans-Arunachal Highway. The work on Sela and Nechiphu tunnel is going on war footing and would be ready before the next Independence Day,’ Khandu said.
On education sector, the chief minister said that the Government of Arunachal Pradesh has announced this year as Year of Education. My Government selected schools will be developed as Model Schools, low enrolment schools will be merged into Inter Village Schools and Early Childhood Care Centers will be established in 300 schools. Focus will also be given on teacher’s training and digital initiatives.
The New Education Policy has given us a great opportunity to rejuvenate the education sector. We would be working towards localization of our syllabus, would focus on early child hood care and education, would spread the library movement and focus on quality of education. Through Eklavya Schools and Model Residential Schools scheme, we would be investing more than Rs. 400 Cr over the period of next three years. Higher Education would receive focused attention. We have also approved establishment of NCC Academy in Arunachal Pradesh, Khandu said.
At Raj Bhawan, The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) unfurled the National Flag and the Raj Bhavan security ITBP Troops presented the Rashtriya Salute.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor conveyed his greetings to the people on the occasion of 75th Independence Day of India. He urged the people to safeguard the hard earned freedom from the British colonial rule.
The Governor, who considers himself lucky to have participated in the first Independence day celebration on 15th August 1947, called upon the people to remember the mission, valour and sacrifice of our freedom fighters due to which we are free citizens of an Independent Nation today.
The Governor said that the State Government, under the dynamic leadership of Pema Khandu is striving hard for all round development in the State. He said that the State Government is focusing on providing planned developmental benefits to the last man standing in the queue.
The Governor appealed to the people to put in concerted effort in fighting the COVID-19 Pandemic by following protocols and COVID-19 appropriate behaviour. He also appealed to every Arunachali to get vaccinated with two anti-COVID prophylactic doses at the earliest.
The Governor emphasised on women empowerment, equitability in opportunity for every citizen, Atma Nirbharata and personal contribution towards the State development.
Earlier, the villagers of Simong Village of Upper Siang District presented a depiction of the 1894 Anglo-Abor war on the Bank of Sijon River, which halted the advance of the Britishers towards interior areas of Siang Valley from the left Bank of River Siang.

PASIGHAT: East Siang also joined the whole nation in celebrating the 74th Independence Day on Sunday in a befitting manner and enthusiasm. The main function was held at district headquarters Pasighat where East Siang Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kinny Singh hoisted the national flag at the Siang Guest House compound.

The DC expressed her pride on the patriotic spirit, zeal and cooperation of the people of the district in development processes and control over Covid-19 pandemic. The DC included in her address that the fight against the coronavirus would be continued by the administration with the help of frontline workers, CBOs, NGOs, unions, associations and the society as a whole at large.
The Chief Guest also highlighted various achievements of the government departments and threw lights on revenue generation etc. While informing that all central and state sponsored flagship programs were being implemented in true spirit she called upon all government functionaries to work with full commitmentin order to provide an efficient, people-friendly, transparent and accountable administration.
Dr. Singh and other dignitaries gave away awards to individuals in recognition of meritorious services rendered by them during Covid-19 pandemic and in other fields and inaugurated a photo exhibition organized by the IPR department in collaboration with AIR and FPO Pasighat.
ZIRO: Minister Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries and Dairy Development Er.Tage Taki unfurled the National Flag at Padi Yubbey outdoor stadium on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day celebrations at Hapoli.
While paying tributes to the thousands of martyrs who laid down their lives for a free India, he called for “pledging to create an India of their dreams void of any discrimination on politics, caste, creed, religion or gender.”
He also acknowledged the contribution of the covid warriors and paid homage to the hundreds of doctors, nurses, paramedical workers, police personnel, sanitary workers and frontline workers who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. “The health care workers and frontline workers continue to work beyond their call of duties, toiling outside while we stay safe indoors. They are our real heroes and I take this opportunity to salute each one of them,” he added.
ROING: The 75th Independence Day was celebrated at Roing in a simple ceremony with MLA Mutchu Mithi unfurling the national flag at the general ground.
Addressing the gathering, Mithi paid homage to the freedom fighters and expressed gratitude to Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and others who rallied the masses of the country and fought for our freedom. Our strength is in standing united despite our diversity and differences, he added.
The MLA also expressed his appreciation for the services rendered by the healthcare workers, frontline workers, police department and others who have been working tirelessly to keep the district safe during the COVID 19 pandemic. He called the COVID 19 vaccine a ‘message of love to keep us safe’ and advised all to get vaccinated and stay safe from the dreaded disease.

On the occasion, PHE&WS, IT &DoTCL Minister Wangki Lowang acknowledged and congratulated the two Sate Government Gold Medal Awardees— Tirap SP Kardak Riba and State Government Silver Medal Awardee SI Ongsa Rongrang on the occasion. Besides, the minister also acknowledged and lauded the Mighty 6 Assam Rifles on being awarded with the prestigious and coveted Director General Assam Rifles Banner 2021 having been adjudged the best Assam Rifles Battalion amongst all 46 AR units.
ITANAGAR: Celebrating ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ on the occasion of 75th Independence Day, the National Flag was hoisted at AP Civil Secretariat, Itanagar by Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar on 15th August in presence of senior officers and staff of AP Civil Secretariat.
The Chief Secretary in his brief address on the occasion sought participation and cooperation from all sections of society to make Arunachal Pradesh the most beautiful, developed and progressive state of India.
Every citizen has an important role and responsibility to play in making Arunachal Pradesh a developed State. And this journey of developed Arunachal Pradesh will be realised only when we all perform our duties and responsibilities with utmost dedication and sincerity, he said.
In the last 75 years India as well as Arunachal Pradesh has witnessed tremendous developments. However we all have to work harder on our shares of responsibilities until the development reaches that last household and our State becomes a developed State, he added.
YUPIA: The 75th Independence day under the aegis of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ was celebrated in a befitting manner at the premises of DC Office Yupia today by following COVID-19 protocols. The Deputy Commissioner Papum Pare District Pige Ligu graced the occasion as chief guest and unfurled the tricolour in the the presence of SP Papum Pare Dr. Neelam Nega, ADC (Hq) Tabang Bodung, Head of Departments, Admin officers, awardees and staff.
