ITANAGAR, Jan 22: An autorickshaw driver died on the spot in a head-on collision with a trekker on NH-415 near D sector, Tennis court at around 8:30 pm this evening. In another separate incident, a youth was seriously injured in a collision involving a bike and four wheeler on VIP road, Niti Vihar just hours earlier.
The deceased has been identified as Sugrim Naku, a native of Siwan in Bihar and currently residing at Gandhi market. The driver of trekker has been detained at police station, Itanagar for further interrogation, informed SP, S Khalsi adding that a case has also been registered vide no 21/19-u section 279 , 304 (A).
The body has been placed for autopsy and will be handed over to the family tomorrow after all process, the SP added.
The injured youth has also been referred to RK Mission hospital for further treatment and his condition is stated to be stable,” according to Itanagar police station source.
The police seized the vehicles and probe is launched.
