ITANAGAR, Nov 23: Special Secretary, Education, Mitali Namchoom on Thursday has clarified that the state government had declared the first phase of three-day mass leave of SSA teachers as illegal because the teachers association despite assurances by the government to review their demands went ahead with their agitation.
In an official release, Namchoom informed that on November 1 last, Satya Gopal after taking over the charge of Chief Secretary held a marathon meeting with the All Arunachal Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (AASSATA) representatives and assured them to place their grievances to the Cabinet for necessary action.
However despite the Chief Secretary’s full assurances of resolving their grievances, the AASSATA executives went ahead with their first phase of agitation and therefore it was declared illegal by the government.
Finally the agitating teachers called off their second phase of the agitation after government reiterated to address their issues by submitting the same to the Cabinet for taking a decision, Namchoom further added.
