ITANAGAR, Jan 25: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has welcomed the meeting between Chief Minister Pema Khandu and his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma to sort out the decades long Assam-Arunachal boundary issue at Guwahati. The union termed it a 'positive and historic development in the annals of both the states history.'
The union opined that the people living in the interstate boundary need permanent peace and deserve a better quality life. The elusive boundary issue has been a contentious and nightmare issue for interstate boundary dwellers causing much heartburn and at times leading to large scale violence putting serious question mark on the peaceful coexistence of both the sister states, said AAPSU President Hawa Bagang.
The union has been raising the boundary issue for a long time demanding for a permanent solution and has on several occasions questions the unilateral act Assam officials. The new development has caught the imagination of masses and enhanced the hope of the union, General Secretary Tobom Dai said.
