ZIRO, Nov 19: At least 10 houses were reduced to ashes in a devastating fire that broke out at the heart of Hari village this afternoon.

The fire which broke out at around 4pm resulted in huge loss of property but no casualty has been reported. Assessment of property loss could not be ascertained till filing of this report.

Timely arrival of fire tenders from Old Ziro and Hapoli helped in dousing the fire soon before it could spread to a larger area as the accident occurred at the heart of the village where residential houses are mostly concentrated. The other factor for timely dousing of fire was for the fact that unlike other days, the access of fire tender to accident site was not obstructed by the haphazard parking of vehicles on roadside.

Meanwhile, the Tanw Supuñ Dukuñ (Apatani Apex Council) has urged the state government to extend adequate relief to the fire victims to compensate their losses. It also urged the District Administration and other NGOs to help in their rehabilitation.
