ITANAGAR, Dec 16:

 

Deputy Commissioner Itanagar Capital Complex, Prince Dhawan inaugurated the Aadhaar based bio-metric payment system at Akashdeep Complex today.

Highlighting the importance of the system, the DC informed that the Digital India is a vision of the Prime Minister to transform India into a digitally empowered society and it is the effort of the District Administration towards Digital India by ensuring that all the market establishments under Capital Complex has access to basic biometric device for cashless transaction.

He informed that transaction between the customer and the shopkeeper could now be done just with the help of the device thereby ensuring convenient mode of payment resulting in fast and cashless transaction.

The DC appealed the vendors to register themselves with the GeM portal and to take due benefit otherwise, the government would be compelled to buy from other vendors from outside the state and that would result in loss of business for the local vendors of the state.

He also asked them to upload pictures of their products at the GeM portal which is like an online market. He informed that those who register earlier would also enjoy a host of benefits. He also assured that very soon the Akashdeep area would be made free wi-fi zone.

 

Later, the DC requested the market community to stand against various menace of society like bandh culture that hinder the development of the state.

 

During the programme, the DC launched the biometric system by purchasing and making a transaction through the system from a vendor.

 

 

Joint Director IT, Hano Taka lauded the effort of the DC who is also the Special Secretary IT for his various initiatives towards digitalisation in the Capital Complex.

Briefing about the GeM portal or Government e- Market place, he informed that it is a technology driven platform providing one stop end to end solution making public procurement transparent, efficient thereby ensuring faster delivery of goods and services online at a much cheaper rate than the offline procurement.

He further informed that the government will soon make public procurement through GeM portal mandatory for the Capital Complex.

The essence of the agenda is to ensure transparency and GeM ensures and guarantees timely payments to vendors within 10 days from the date of acceptance of the delivery by the Govt. Departments, he said.

He therefore requested the vendors to register themselves, for which he stressed that the Help Desk of the department of IT is always open.

 

Earlier, Prabhat Rajkhowa, Manager Lead Bank highlighting the importance of the system informed that it is a step towards digital payment for cashless transaction.

 

Itanagar Market Welfare Association President Yumlam Achung stressed that the system has been launched with a view to bring in transparency in the system of payment and requested all the vendors to take advantage and get registered. He thanked the DC for his effort and assured all out cooperation from his side.
