ZIRO, Aug 27: Taking a strong, community-first stand against substance abuse, the District Level NCORD Committee of Lower Subansiri held its 22nd coordination meeting today.

 

Chaired by Oli Perme, Deputy Commissioner and NCORD Chairman, the session brought together top administrative, law enforcement, security, and health officials to tackle drug abuse right at the grass-roots level. Opening the discussions, Keni Bagra, Superintendent of Police and Committee Convener, reviewed action items from the previous 21st session and outlined immediate priorities for the district.

A major outcome of the meeting was a district-wide push into local schools, rolling out targeted drug awareness programs aimed at protecting young minds. To ensure kids have a safe, anonymous way to speak up or ask for help, authorities are installing dedicated complaint and feedback boxes across all schools. This feedback loop will give district officials direct insight into on-the-ground issues, allowing for faster, more empathetic interventions.

The multi-agency meeting included key officials such as the Deputy Director (ICDS), Superintendent of Tax, Excise & Narcotics, alongside representatives from the CRPF, ITBP, and the Narcotics Control Bureau. District leadership reiterated that building a drug-free environment isn't just about enforcement—it takes a compassionate, joint effort between schools, families, and local administration to support the youth.
