NAHARLAGUN, Jun 17: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President, Nabam Tuki, led a two-day 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' organized by the Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) on Saturday. The march aimed to protest against the "Anti-Democratic" BJP government and promote love, unity, and fraternity among the citizens of India. The event began in Banderdewa and concluded in Naharlagun on the first day, while the second day will continue from Naharlagun to Itanagar.
The National General Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress, Nur Sofiqul Wazid, stated that the foot march not only served the purpose of the protest but also commemorated the birth anniversary of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The Bharat Jodo Yatra, initiated by Rahul Gandhi, aimed to unite the country against what was perceived as the "divisive politics" of the BJP-led government at the national level.
Wazid, emphasized the importance of understanding the initiative's goals and urged the public, regardless of state, region, community, or colour to participate actively in creating an environment where everyone is treated equally. He criticized the BJP government for making false promises and propagating divisive politics while highlighting Congress' commitment to the welfare of the people in Arunachal Pradesh and across the country.
The foot march was simultaneously organized in various districts across the country to commemorate Rahul Gandhi's birth anniversary.
APYC President, Tarh Johny, clarified that the march was not directly related to the upcoming assembly elections but aimed to foster love and gain the trust of the general public. The primary objective of the yatra is to unite India, strengthen the nation, and raise awareness about prevalent economic, social, and political issues causing division. Johny highlighted concerns about rampant unemployment, inflation, the politics of hate and division, and the over-centralization of the political system.
