ITANAGAR, May 24: Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) has submitted a representation to the Superintendent of Police – Special Investigation Cell (SIC), urging a comprehensive investigation into the alleged illegal appointment of Primary Teachers (PRT). The APYC President, Tarh Johny, highlighted a case reported by the All Longding District Students' Union (ALDSU) concerning the appointment of 28 PRTs without proper advertisement or interview.
Expressing concern over the matter, Tarh Johny remarked that it is surprising to witness the direct appointment of fresh candidates as regular teachers without following the established recruitment norms. He emphasized that numerous existing teachers under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) have been struggling for regularisation despite years of service, while many qualified candidates who have cleared the CTET and APTET exams are eagerly awaiting opportunities. The APYC President alleged that the authorities have disregarded the laid-down procedures and According to sources, the appointment process for this alleged scam was carefully orchestrated to prevent the leakage of information through Right to Information (RTI) inquiries. It is important to note that the recruitment of PRT teachers does not fall under the purview of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) or the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB), but rather rests solely with the Education Department.
Tarh Johny further appealed to the Superintendent of Police – SIC to register a case and initiate a thorough investigation into the matter at various levels, ranging from the Commissioner (Education) to the District Deputy Director of School Education (DDSE) in every district. He stressed the need to hold accountable all individuals involved, regardless of their status, by invoking appropriate sections of the law to set an example for others.
