NIRJULI, Feb 1: In a significant anti-narcotics operation, the Papu Hill Police Station team apprehended a 21-year-old, for possession of suspected heroin in Nirjuli. The arrest followed a brief chase and was made possible by a coordinated effort from the police team.
The operation was based on credible intelligence, prompting a search led by Inspector Torum Mai, Officer-in-Charge of Papu Hill Police Station, with the support of Sub-Inspectors J. Lego and Bobby Sumyan, and Constable Halder. The team acted under the supervision of SDPO Naharlagun Rishi Longdo.
Upon searching the accused, Nabam Lucky,  four vials containing a total of six grams of suspected heroin were seized. The recovery was made in the presence of independent witnesses to ensure transparency and adherence to legal procedures.
A case has been filed under case number 14/25 at the Papu Hill Police Station, under Section 21(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities have confirmed that further investigation is ongoing.
SP Naharlagun Mihin Gambo emphasized the police department's commitment to combatting drug-related crimes and maintaining a drug-free community. He urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking or consumption, underscoring the importance of community cooperation in such efforts, stated a release.
