KHONSA, Jul 12: In tandem with plastic-free July, World Paper Day was celebrated here in Khonsa today.  The awareness programme was conducted by Assam Rifle 6 in collaboration with district administration wherein demo of waste disposal and distribution of sample paper bags to the shopkeepers were carried out.
Shopkeepers of the town were urged to cooperate in making Tirap free of single use plastic. Town magistrate Dr Ripi Doni  spoke on harmful effect of plastics and its careless disposal. She also stated that commercial license will be cancelled and various action deemed fit under environment protection act 1986 will be executed for non-compliance of the district magistrate order.
