ITANAGAR, Jun 3: As part of the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, 75th years of India’s freedom, the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Arunachal Pradesh in association with the Department of Youth Affairs, Arunachal Cycling Association, Smart City Itanagar, RGNIYD and the NSS, organized a cycle rally on the occasion of World Bicycle Day today from IG park to Yupia covering a distance of 16 kms.
Over 75 cyclists participated in the event led by Minister Youth & Sports Mama Natung which also saw the attendance of DC Bomdila, Ramesh Linggi, Director Youth Affairs among others.
In his remarks, Mama Natung said that the cycle rally aimed to raise awareness on the important message of healthy living, protecting the environment, uphold good old traditions, communal harmony and to promote a plastic free environment.  The minister also raised the slogan, “Drugs choro, cycle pe joro” to motivate and encourage the youths on healthy lifestyle and dismiss violence and drugs from society. 
NYK Namsai and NYK Papum Pare also celebrated World Bicycle Day with great enthusiasm, in which over 75 cyclists participated.
