ITANAGAR, May 7: The All Arunachal Pradesh Workers’ Welfare Society (AAPWWS) has strongly condemned the alleged premature termination of several labourers from various government departments across the state.
In a press briefing held on Wednesday, the organisation expressed serious concern over what it termed as an "arbitrary and unjust" action by the authorities.
Speaking to the media, President APWWS Jalley Sonam stated ‘Many of the affected labourers were removed from service before reaching their official retirement age and without being granted their entitled retirement benefits, which are reportedly worth ₹3 lakh per individual.’ The society claimed that these workers have been deprived not only of their rightful dues but also of their means of livelihood, and that the terminations were carried out without proper justification or adherence to due process.
“The termination of these workers is a gross violation of labour rights and an attack on the dignity of honest workers who have served the departments for years,” added Sonam.
The organisation has demanded the immediate reengagement of all terminated labourers in their previous posts. It also urged the state government and concerned departments to take urgent steps to ensure that the rights and benefits of workers are upheld and protected.
AAPWWS further warned that if their demands are not met, it will consider launching a statewide agitation to press for justice for the affected labourers.
