NAMSAI, May 7: The All Arunachal Pradesh Workers Union (AAPWU) has filed a complaint regarding purported unlawful appointments in the Department of Public Health Engineering & Water Supply (PHED&WS).
At least 8 people in Changlang and 9 in Longding district were appointed without proper recruitment in various positions in the PHED&WS under the Chief Engineer, Eastern Zone, it said,
A team, led by Tadar Chai, the Secretary General of AAPWU Headquarters, accompanied by Sanu Tamang, Vice President of AAPWU for the Eastern Zone, Asam Mossang, President of AAPWU for Miao Block, Kyamuk Moungkang, President of AAPWU-Women Wing for Namsai, Promila Singkai, Vice President of AAPWU-WW for Namsai, Ita Mimi, President of AAPWU for Lower Dibang Valley, and S. Khrotong, Zonal Secretary for the Eastern Zone, AAPWU, visited the office of the Chief Engineer (Eastern Zone) PHED&WS-Namsai  to express their dissatisfaction regarding the alleged illegal appointments within the department.
Speaking to the media, Tadar Chai, Secretary General of AAPWU Headquarters, stated that upon discovering reports of alleged illegal appointments of at least 17 individuals through various channels, they had voiced their opposition, demanding immediate action against the appointing authority and the termination of the said appointment letters. He highlighted the absence of any job advertisements for departmental positions, yet the surprise appointment of at least 17 individuals on various posts, which he deemed entirely unlawful.
Tadar Chai further mentioned that a formal representation had been submitted to the authorities, urging them to take swift action within seven days; otherwise, the union would consider appropriate measures.
Sanu Tamang, Vice President of AAPWU for the Eastern Zone, expressed dismay, questioning why the Eastern Zone had become a dumping ground for such illegal appointments. He emphasized the presence of hundreds of workers engaged in the department as contingency and casual workers for many decades, requiring support from the authorities. He condemned the sudden and unlawful appointments, stressing the need for rectification.
