ITANAGAR, Jul 24: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW), Itanagar has condemned the assault on Yajik Hui Pegmir by her husband Pegmir Kasa with a machete at Repari village under Kamporiji circle, terming it “inhumane and unacceptable”. The Commission has taken suo-moto cognizance of the case and requested the Superintendent of Police, Kamle District to take necessary action against the culprit involved in the brutal assault while urging for a fair investigation to bring justice to the victim.
Meanwhile, the 7th Commission led by Chairperson Yalem Taga Burang visited the victim and donated an ex-gratia for immediate relief to the victim. The team further appealed to the general public to maintain peace and restraint and cooperate with the police investigation.
Meanwhile, the Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) Kamle Branch, led by its President Haro Yallu and her team met Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kamle district, Taba Biroy, to inquire about the assault case. The DySP informed the team that the case has been registered under various relevant sections of law and is being monitored seriously by the SP Kamle and the police department is working in full swing to arrest the accused.
The DySP also informed the team that a manhunt is ongoing to arrest the accused soon, and all police nationwide have been informed.
The APWWS strongly condemned the barbaric and inhuman assault of the woman and requested the concerned authorities to take swift action.
