Doimukh, Jun 27: A young woman tragically lost her life this morning near Kolma, close to the Tana Hari Fish Farm, after reportedly falling from a moving train. The body was discovered along the railway track by early morning passersby.
The deceased has been identified as Kajal Bariak, around 20 years old, daughter of Kalu Bariak from Tarraso village under Balijan Police Station in Papum Pare Rural District. She was working as a domestic helper in the area.
According to initial reports, Kajal is suspected to have jumped from the Donyi Polo Express while it was en route from Guwahati to Naharlagun. The incident is believed to have occurred between 6:30 and 7:00 AM as the train passed through the Kolma section.
Upon receiving alerts from railway staff and passengers, Doimukh Police led by local authorities rushed to the scene. A case of Unnatural Death (UD) has been officially registered at Doimukh Police Station, and the body has been sent to Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Naharlagun for autopsy to ascertain the exact cause and timing of death,stated a press statement.
During a press briefing, SP Papum Pare Taru Gusar issued a strong advisory to the public, especially early morning walkers, warning them against walking or lingering near the railway tracks. "Railway tracks are not walking trails. The risks are grave, and today's incident is a grim reminder of that," said SP Gusar.
