AALO, Sep 19: District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) Aalo, West Siang unit headed by the Nodal Officer DMO West Siang Dr. Dubom Bagra received the certificate of appreciation from the State Tobacco Control Cell (STCC), in recognition of its outstanding performance in IEC (information, communication and education) monitoring during the 60-day 'Tobacco free youth campaign' which was launched by DC West Siang Penga Tato on May 31 and continued till July 31 lash under the supervision of Dr T Wangmu DPO DTCC.
During the 60-day period, intensive anti tobacco campaign was carried out all over West Siang by generating awareness using IEC material, presentations, lectures, drawing and essay competition in various schools against tobacco and its ill effects.
District Level Task Force Committee (DTCC) under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner supervised, monitored and implemented the ToFEI and enforced the COTPA Act 2003 in educational institutions and around its premises.
During the two-month long campaign, IEC materials on harmful effects of tobacco and 'No Smoking' notices in public places were displayed in various parts of the district.
