Aalo, May 7: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of West Siang held its first meeting on disaster preparedness ahead of the monsoon season.
Dorjee Nima, DDMO West Siang highlighted the preparations for the upcoming monsoon. This year the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) warned the probability of occurrence of heat wave, he said urging all the line departments to prepare to mitigate any eventuality during monsoon.
For Aalo township, the DDMA West Siang identified Govt. Hr. Sec School ground as safe location in case of natural calamities. Health department, Power, PHED, WRD, etc is ready to mitigate any eventuality, he added.
Mabi Taipodia ADC cum Chairman urged all the DDMA members to be proactive during the monsoon season. She also urged the public of West Siang District to inform any damages caused by natural calamities during the monsoon. She also requested the public of Aalo township not to venture near rivers and streams, to keep away from land slide prone zone etc., during the monsoon.
