Bomdila, Oct 28: The District Election Office, West Kameng, conducted the draw of lots for 33% reservation of seats for women in the Zila Parishad, Gram Panchayat, and Gram Panchayat Chairperson constituencies today at Kameng Club, Bomdila.
Dechin Doka, District Panchayat Development Officer (DPDO)-cum-In-Charge District Election Officer (DEO), highlighted the rules and procedures for selecting reserved seats as per the Arunachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj Act, 1997 and the Arunachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj (Delimitation of Constituencies and Reservation of Seats) (Amendment) Rules, 2018.
Administrative officers from all sub-divisions, along with representatives of political parties, PRI members, senior citizens, villagers, public and others were present to witness the draw for 13 Zilla Parishad Members (ZPMs), 110 Gram Panchayat Chairpersons (GPCs), and 503 Gram Panchayat Members (GPMs).
Out of the 13 ZPM seats, four—Thembang, Dirang, Thrizino, and Jerigaon—were declared reserved for women. Subsequently, draws were also conducted for Gram Panchayat seats across the entire district. (DIPRO)
