PASIGHAT, Jan 24: The department of Women and Child Development East Siang today organised a  felicitation programme for meritorious girls of the district to encourage their hard work for academic excellence including an awareness session on legal rights, health and hygiene to mark the celebration of the National Girl Child Day. This also commemorates the 10 years implementation of the Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao Scheme.
Chief Guest ADC (Hq) Tatling Pertin, gave away the awards to the district toppers namely Linda Jobiyum Yirang ( Class V from Angun English School ,mebo, Geyum Rihar ( Class VIII) , Green Valley Tebo, Miss Kargam Riba (Class X, DEM GHSS,Pasighat), Miss Doley Borang (XII Sc. Govt. Hr. Sec., Sille . The ADC urged the grass-root functionaries to create awareness about the various welfare schemes and incentives for women beneficiaries and for empowerment of girl child implemented by the various government departments.
In her keynote address, DDICDS cum Nodal Officer, Mission Shakti, Machi Gao informed the gathering about this year theme for celebration of National Child Day 2025 which is “Empowering Girl for Bright Future” under the aegis of MoWCD, Govt. of India, to commemorate Ten years of implementation of BBBP Scheme.  Series of activities will be organised by Sankalp Hub for empowerment of women from 22 January 22 to March 8. Gao also highlighted on various services under the components of Sambal scheme for safety and security of women and Samarthya scheme for empowerment of women under the umbrella of Mission Shakt.
