Itanagar, Dec 1: In a coordinated operation, the Itanagar Capital Police and Leparada Police successfully apprehended a wanted fraudster, Anar Uddin, who had been evading authorities since 2021. The arrest took place on November 30 last, at around 8:00 PM in Dokum Colony, Itanagar.
The operation was initiated following a request for assistance by a police team from Basar Police Station, Leparada District, led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Moli Kamdak. The accused, a resident of Sonapur, Bihpuria, Lakhimpur District, Assam, had been absconding in connection with Basar PS Case No. 23/2021 under Sections 417 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), pertaining to cheating and fraud.
With intelligence pinpointing the accused’s presence in Itanagar, the local police, under the direction of SP Itanagar and the supervision of SDPO Itanagar, formed a team to assist in the operation. The team, comprising SI Samuel Ngupok, SI Padam Padi, and Constable Pranjal Medhi, collaborated with the Leparada police and worked swiftly to trace and apprehend the accused.
The successful arrest marks the end of a three-year-long chase during which the accused managed to evade authorities on multiple occasions. The accused was handed over to the Basar Police team for further investigation and legal proceedings.
