LONGDING, Mar 8: A 6-day Circle level volleyball tournament with the theme 'Play for Peace and Unity' was organised at General Ground, Pongchau by the local Chingtai Club in collaboration with the Pongchau Students' Union.
It was the first time a big tournament of this kind was organised in a remote part of the state. The main objective of the tournament was to spread the message of peace and unity in the region and pay tribute to the four now-deceased legendary volleyball players of the region namely Kapwang Wangsa, Towang Wangsa, Jongan Wangsu and Wangow Wangsa. A total of 10 boys teams and 8 girls teams participated in the tournament which was inaugurated on March 2 amid enthusiasm in presence of ZPMs. In the boys segment, Bonai Kamhua and Noknu villages were the winners and runners-up respectively. In girls category, Nyamjee Team and Chingaon Team, both from Pongchau emerged as winners and runners-up respectively
The tournament concluded on March 7 with the prize distribution ceremony. DIPRO
