NAMSAI, Jan 17:  In its fight against drug menace in society, Lotong Adi Banggo  Kebang (LABK), Namsai district destroyed poppy cultivation in Jona-II Village today. Hundreds of members participated in the campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, General Secretary-LABK Buteng Tayeng informed that, since December last, villagers decided to start a rigorous campaign against drug menace in the village. LABK will take strict action against those who consume drugs and other contraband substances in the village, he said.
He further urged the local MLA Chow Zingnu Namchoom and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein to enhance the bed capacity at the Drug Rehabilitation Center, so that youths who want to rehabilitate themselves can get a chance.
Earlier, Chandra Paleng , General Secretary  Adi Bane Kebang Youth Wing –Namsai also expressed concern over the rampant use of drugs and opium in the village. He also warned the youths and those dealing in drugs to immediately stop such illegal activities.
