ITANAGAR, Dec 23: Five members of the All Yobin students’ union (AYSU) including its president, Ngwazosa Yobin were arrested at 8:30 this morning in connection with arson and vandalising government offices in the December 11 incident at Vijoynagar. They were arrested by the Roing police and Special Task Force (STF) at Simari between Roing and Koruno of Lower Dibang Valley district. The Changlang District Administration has confirmed the report of the arrest of five persons including the Union's president.
As per reports from  sources, the AYSU team was traveling in a hired vehicle and were  probably  en route to Itanagar. They were reportedly supposed to surrender at Miao ADC office on Tuesday but did not turn up.
Expressing dismay over the act of the AYSU members, the Yobin Welfare Society  (YWS) has written an apology letter to the ADC Miao. The letter states that they feel cheated by Ngwazosa Yobin who had assured to surrender but did not keep his promise. The society has asked for stringent action against him. On December 11, a mob of around 400 people led by AYSU president had burnt down the EAC office, post office and office of special branch of the state police before ransacking the police station which was only recently inaugurated by Home Minister Bamang Felix. The incident is being investigated by the special investigation team.
