TAWANG, May 2: Commemorating the first anniversary of the Tawang firing incident where two persons—Nyima Wangdi and Tsring Tempa were killed on 2 May 2016, today hundreds of monks, public, students along with members of Save Mon Region Federation (SMRF), 302 Action Committee and The Humanity Group gathered here at Chhameing Ground and paid tribute to the lost souls.
On the occasion the public also expressed resentment over the lackadaisical attitude of the state government on the whole incident and sought immediate handing over of the case to CBI, immediate termination of officers involved in the incident, delivery of one man commission report and revealing of SIT reports to the victim families and other NGOs along with immediate filing of charge sheet against the culprits involved in the incident.
Meanwhile, Mere Vichar Andolan Committee also paid tribute by lighting candles for the victims here in Itanagar. The committee headed by its Convenor Kaling Tasing and Tarh Atung also visited Rama Krishna Mission Hospital and met Tenzing Wangde the third person who was severely injured after a bullet lodged in his head during the firing . ‘We urge the state government to take care of all medical expenses of the injured person who is still battling for his life as well as immediate independent enquiry of the whole episode,’ stated Tarh Atung.
On this day of 2 May, 2016, police fired bullets after group of protesters went on a rampage while demanding release of a monk Lobsang Gyatso who is known for his anti dam movement in the Mon region.
