ITANAGAR, May 27: Arunachal Pradesh recorded two more deaths due to Covid-19 on Thursday which took the casualty tally to 109. Overall concern persisted not only due to fresh cases again witnessing an upward trend, but also due to the fact that vaccination is not picking up pace particularly in the 18-44 age category due to shortage of stocks.
A 54-yr old female Covid patient from Tawang district with the comorbidity of hypertension who wasn’t vaccinated expired today at MH Dahung in West Kameng. A 54-yr old male Covid patient from West Kameng without any comorbidity and not vaccinated died today at 181 Military Hospital.
A total of 444 new Covid cases (asymptomatic 309, symptomatic 135) were recorded on the day with Itanagar Capital Complex contributing the most with 114, followed by Tawang 56, Changlang 47, Lohit 32, Namsai 31 and West Kameng 28 the other troubled districts, taking the active count to 3692. However, recoveries saw an improvement with a total of 254 (ICR 51, Tawang 26, Lohit 20, Upper Subansiri 19, Namsai 17, West Kameng and East Siang 16 each). With these new recoveries, the state’s discharge tally is now 22019. Sample collection also noticed a significant improvement with a total of 7284 collection on Thursday from all the districts.
According to the State Covid Vaccine Bulletin, only 79 individuals in the 18-44 age group were vaccinated on the day with the first dose and as of May 27, 20151 have been vaccinated with dose 1. In the 45+ category, 479 were vaccinated with dose 1 which took the count to 146138. And with just one vaccination in the entire day the 2nd dose tally is 35851. In terms of percentage, only 3% of eligible beneficiaries in the 18-44 age category have been covered (dose 1). For the 45+ age slab, it is 41% and 10% respectively for dose 1 and 2.
Occupancy status at the CCCs as of May 27 was- 58 at DCH Chimpu, 47 at SQF Lekhi, 5 at DCHC Midpu, 5 at DCH Pasighat and 32 at DCHC.
