ZIRO, May 1:Upper Subansiri lifted the 5th State level Subroto Mukherjee football trophy by defeating West Siang by 3-1 in the final match played today here at government higher secondary school ground Ziro.
Tamin Sikom of Upper Subansiri scored two goals while Tania Nibe added one more goal. Beken Riram of West Siang could retaliate a single goal.
Later, the chief guest ADC Needing Chatung In-charge deputy commissioner Ziro and other dignitaries gave away the prizes. The awards for best player and best goal keeper were awarded to Tania Nibe of Upper Subansiri and Imar Bam of West Siang respectively, while highest individual goal scorers of the tournament were given to Reken Riram of West Siang, Tajing Siram of East Siang and Rajesh Mara of Upper Subansiri.
Earlier, three prominent former players of the district - John Tadu Lailyang, Dani Byai and Radhe Koyang were felicitated.
