Yingkiong, May 18: Minister, Health & Family Welfare Alo Libang launched Ane Angong -- an initiative to promote institutional deliveries at District Hospital Yingkiong today in presence of deputy commissioner, Upper Siang District, Shashvat Saurabh and ZPC Lumgeng Litin. It is a collaborative effort of the District Administration, District Health Society and ICDS Upper Siang District.
The function was attended among others by 20 beneficiaries who have delivered at the District Hospital Yingkiong from March 1 to May 14 this year.
Minister, H&FW applauded the district administration and the partner contributors for the noble initiative. He exhorted that every possible steps are being taken to improve the health delivery services to the common people. He advised all cadres of health workers to sincerely work in unison for a better society.
The deputy commissioner, while citing the genesis of the special initiative, reiterated the importance of institutional deliveries to mitigate the complications arising during and after childbirth. He urged all stakeholders to discourage all unassisted home deliveries and rather encourage to opt for cent percent institutional deliveries from now on.
