Yingkiong, Jul 15: The Narcotics Coordination (NCORD) meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Upper Siang, Talo Jerang, was organized by the District Police to review and strengthen the district’s anti-drug efforts on Monday.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the actions initiated by respective line departments and urged all members to take the anti-drug campaign seriously and ensure that all directives discussed in the meeting are implemented in both letter and spirit.
As part of the session, Dr. Karo Teng, Medical Superintendent, gave a detailed presentation on the early warning signs of drug abuse and the importance of timely intervention. District ICDS Officer, Ine Pertin, apprised the house about various awareness activities being conducted under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, which include pledge-taking drives and youth engagement initiatives.
Further, DDSE Duhon Tekseng informed that Anti-Drugs and Anti-Tobacco Committees have been constituted in 29 schools across the district. Students are being sensitized on the harmful effects of substance abuse through lectures, interactive sessions, and educational activities.
ADC Mariyang also shared his views on the ongoing campaign and stressed collective responsibility in combating drug abuse.
Earlier, DySP Gocham Sakter provided an overview of the objectives of the NCORD meeting and highlighted actions undertaken by the District Police in tackling drug-related issues. 
As part of the programme, a short awareness film titled "Revive – A Second Chance", produced by the District Administration in collaboration with the Department of Information and Public Relations, Yingkiong was screened. The film forms a part of the ongoing anti-drug awareness drive in the district. (DIPRO)
