Yingkiong, Jan 22: With an aim to raise awareness on drug menace in the district, the Upper Siang District Administration in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society (APWWS) Upper Siang Unit conducted a 10km women's (16 years and above) marathon race  at Yingkiong today.  
Altogether 51 women from all walks of life participated in the run. Albina Doley emerged the winner while Bame Modi and Jomkyam Libang bagged the second and third place.  Cash prizes for the trio and  5 Consolation prizes will be handed over on Republic Day.
Addressing the gathering, President APWWS Kalpana Perme appreciated all participants for coming out in large numbers in support of the cause. She   spoke on the role of women especially mothers in fighting against drug  abuse and a drug free society. APWWS has always taken steps to eradicate  drug menace in the district and will continue to do so for the greater cause of society and future generations, she said appealing all  to come forward and co-operate against anti- social activities to create a healthy drug free society.
EAC ( Hq) Rajiv Chiduni also lauded the APWWS and all participants for the overwhelming response and said that drug abuse is a grave problem which can be controlled with proper  awareness and educating the people about its  ill effects.
Meanwhile, an Adi music video to raise awareness on ill effects of drugs among youths – Drugs Em Tima Peka (Say No To Drugs) directed by Alokong Litin featuring multitalented child artist Kanggam Taron a singer, composer and a youtuber was also screened.  DIPRO
