Yingkiong, Aug 29: National Sports Day commemorating the birth anniversary of ‘Wizard of Indian Hockey’ Major Dhyan Chand was celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm here at Yingkiong  today.
The District Administration organised recreational activities among people of various age groups with the theme “Say No to Drugs & Yes to Sports”, stressing on the importance of fitness of the body and the mind besides creating awareness on health hazards of drug abuse. 
To mark the day, friendly football matches for boys and girls were conducted.  To the much applause of the audience, both teams participated enthusiastically exhibiting a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship.
