Ziro, Mar 6: Union Minister of State for Power & New & Renewal Energy, Shripad Naik arrived on a two-day maiden visit to Ziro Valley on Wednesday. He visited various important places like Gyati Takka General Hospital, Integrated Aqua Park at Tarin, Shivalinga at Kardo, PMAY (Urban) at Pai Gate and Mihin Bagang Govt. Secondary School at Hapoli and reviewed their functioning as well as interacted with officials and public.
On Thursday, Naik held a review meeting with District Administration and all the Heads of the Departments in the district at the Mini Secretariat. He reviewed progress of various social & developmental schemes in the district, emphasizing mainly on five sectors, namely Health, Education, Banking, Infrastructure and Agriculture and Allied Sector.
Joram Tatum, District Planning Officer gave an insightful introduction of Lower Subansiri District, its land & people. He also highlighted the progress of various flagship programmes in the district. Tasso Butung, District Agriculture Officer informed the Union Minister about the success stories of Paddy-cum-Fish Culture in the Ziro Valley. He also informed that Ziro Valley is the highest producer of Kiwi in the country and its Kiwis are organically certified under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region (MOVCD-NER).
Swapnil Naik, Commissioner, Civil Aviation and Vigilance, Govt. of AP, told the gathering about Krishi Udan Scheme, an initiative to improve the transportation of agricultural produce by air. He said, under this scheme, Tezu Airport from Arunachal Pradesh has been selected and if need be, Ziro Airport can also be recommended for its inclusion under this scheme to help the local growers.
While expressing his happiness at visiting the beautiful Ziro Valley, Shripad Naik appreciated the progress made by various departments. He further said that Lower Subansiri District is blessed with all the potential to become the number one district in all spheres in the State and towards this end he urged for joint and concerted efforts of all the stakeholders. As an ambassador of the Government of India, he further assured all possible help in clearing developmental projects and schemes at the Centre, irrespective of ministries and departments to make Ziro Valley self sufficient and Atmanirbhar.
