ZIRO, Jul 4: Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Dr Sanjeev Kumar Balyan who is in Ziro, for a two day tour, today visited several veterinary and fishery projects being implemented in Ziro. He was accompanied by state's agri & horti minister Er.Tage Taki, and Deputy Commissioner,Lower Subansiri, Bamin Nime.
The Minister visited the free range poultry farm at Lempia which has been established in a bamboo garden. Interacting with the owner of the farm, he assured to assist in setting up a hatchery for the farm.
He also visited the Sikhe Lake project , which is the first artificial lake in the state and a significant water conservation project.
The team then visited the paddy fields to take firsthand stock of the pisci cum agriculture paddy cultivation being practiced by the Apatanis for ages. Balyan later interacted with the farmers.
The Minister later visited the Tarin Fish farm.
After inspecting the oldest fish farm in Ziro and interacting with the fishery officials, he accepted the proposal for the establishment of the Tarin Aqua Park at the fish farm.
Bidol Tayeng, Secretary Fisheries and Animal Husbandry and Directors of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, HoDs accompanied the Minister.
