NEW DELHI, Sep13:    Chief Minister Pema Khandu along with Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju called on Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and held a very positive meeting today. The trio discussed at length on various issues confronting the state on border affairs, land and other related issues.

While pleading to resolve the land compensation and other land related issues with the defence ministry, Khandu sought a concrete mechanism to resolve all issues in a time bound manner.

The Defence Minister asked the state government to coordinate and work out with the Department of Defence (DOD) regarding all pending cases of land acquisition, compensation, forest clearance for building border roads, etc. Accepting an invitation from the Chief Minister to visit the state, the Defence Minister said during her visit, she would hold an elaborate meeting and try resolving all the pending issues. She is expected to make a two day visit to the state in October end this year.

The Chief Minister also requested for establishment of two Sainik Schools preferably in east and west zones of the state and assured to provide land free of cost.
