ITANAGAR, May 3: All Arunachal Pradesh Abotani Students Union (AAPATSU) has cautioned of resorting to democratic movement against the state government for not responding to its 20- day ultimatum seeking immediate cancellation of elected Non-APST Panchayat members from Lekang Constituency of Namsai District.
Addressing media persons at press club today, President AAPATSU  Langpu Apon Maru stated that, the union submitted a representation to the Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on April 12 last demanding immediate action on its demands  but till date, no positive response has come through.
“AAPATSU demands the state government to immediately cancel the  Non-APST elected representative from Panchayati Raj system in Lekang Constituency and a separate Bill/ Act in the State Assembly to block the PRC issue permanently," added the President. The Lekang Constituency is reserved for the ST, but almost all the panchayat leaders are Non-APST, claimed  Maru.
The Deputy Chief Minister who represented the Lekang Constituency for at least  25 years is well versed with the PRC issue. If in future any uprising related to the PRC issue arises, the sole responsibility would be only on the DyCM Chowna Mein, the Union said.
