NAMSAI, Jul 13: Deputy Commissioner Namsai has declared Telbari and Deobil under the Namsai Circle as containment zones after a patient discharged from a quarantine facility after testing negative had to be called back after his second test showed positive.
A case of Covid-19 has been detected and the said person has been put under home quarantine at Telbari village based on ICMR report received on July 12 regarding his second sample collected on July 7, DC mentioned in the order. The order has clarified that since there is every possibility of spread of the virus from the epicentre, the entire geographical area of Telbari village and parts of Deobeel village have been sealed off.
When contacted, DRCHO, Namsai Dr. Tope Yomcha clarified that the said person was a Chennai returnee along with 47 others and was at the Quarantine Facility since June 19 last. His first sample tested negative, however, when one of his roommates tested positive, as a precaution measure, they took the second test of the full batch, Dr. Yomcha informed. “Due to delay in results from ICMR- Dibrugarh we had to discharge the inmates who were negative, but when we learnt that one of them had tested positive, we reached his home to re-admit him,” he added.
Ruling out chances of community spread, the DRCHO informed that the person was in home quarantine in a separate room and all his primary and secondary contacts had tested negative.
