KHONSA, Mar 26: Two Under Trial Prisoners (UTP)  involved in several incidents of crime, today escaped from police custody at Khonsa. The Under Trial Prisoners (UTP)  also snatched a gun from the police personnel on duty and shot him before escaping. Unfortunately, the police personnel  from 1st IRBn succumbed  to his injury while on the way to hospital for medical aid. 
A high alert has been sounded following the escape of the UTPs. The incident occurred around 5pm today. 
One UTP  namely Roksen Homcha Lowang of NSCN-K(NS) and another convict namely Titpu Kitnya snatched the service AK-47 rifle from the sentry on duty, namely Ct Wangniam Bosai, 1st IRBn Khonsa and then fired upon him.  
Ct Bosai attained martyrdom while being shifted to Dibrugarh for medical intervention. 
Legal proceedings have been initiated, and a manhunt is on to locate the escaped prisoners, informed PRO -APP, Rohit Rajbir Singh(IPS).
