ITANAGAR, Aug 24: The Session Court Yupia has convicted two accused to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in rape and POCSO case.
Informing about the Judgement ( WPS case No : 84/2015 U/S 376 of IPC), Superintendent of Police, ICR, Jimmy Chiram informed that a girl, aged 13 years got married to a man in 2011 and later his two sons harassed, tortured and repeatedly raped her on many occasions and was threatened to remain silent.
An FIR was registered on 05/09/2015, and at the time of the crime, the victim was 14-16 years as concluded by the Medical Board. After a thorough investigation involving six witnesses, charges were framed against Heri Kya and Heri Tachu u/s 376(2) (f)(g) IPC R/W Sec. 6 of POCSO Act.
On August 1, the case successfully reached its verdict and the two accused involved have been sentenced to serve 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 5000 under section 6 of POCSO Act, informed the SP.
