Itanagar, Aug 21: The capital district administration today has decided to open two petrol depots at Itanagar and Naharlagun 24x7, to meet emergency fuel requirements during night hours. The administration has assured to provide necessary security and to take over two depots at night on pilot basis.
In this connection a meeting was held by Deputy Commissioner, ICC Talo Potom, with all the POL depot owners under the aegis of capital complex petroleum depots association (CCPDA) and officials of Food and Civil Supply Department today to address the issues and challenges associated with running of petroleum product outlets in the state capital complex.
Owners of all 17 depots starting from Banderdewa to Chimpu attended the coordination meeting and placed their grievances before the district administration.
The association informed that the flat carriage rate fixed by Indian Oil Corporation limited (IOCL) @ INR 2500 per 12KL tanker for transportation of Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene from IOCL depot Emchi, Doimukh to various parts of Capital Complex irrespective of distance is too meagre and requested the DC to intervene in the matter and resolve their grievances with IOCL authorities.  
Also highlighting the frequent demand placed by the Unions and Associations for free POL items (Petrol & Diesel) which runs into thousands of litres every month, they informed that the  employees of pol outlets are subjected to physical assault if they refuse to meet the demands placed by such organizations.
The CCPDA also appealed to the government departments to clear the outstanding pol credit bills which run into crores in order to improve the quality of services.
After a detailed discussion, the DC assured to address the grievances of the CCPDA and take up the matter with all concerned to improve the efficiency, quality, weight and measure of the petroleum products. He has assured to convene a meeting of the presidents and secretaries of unions and associations to check the menace of forceful donation of Pol items.  He further directed all the petrol pump owners to install high quality CCTV to check those refilling their vehicles without making payments. He has also assured to provide necessary security and to take over two Pol depots at night respectively on pilot basis.
It will be rolled out to remaining depots if there's a positive response from the denizens of the Capital Complex, said the DC.
Earlier DCFSO, ICC Amit Bengia while welcoming all requested them to adhere to the licensing policy of the government. 
The meeting was attended by all the field functionaries of the Food & Civil Supplies department of ICC, CCPDA president Arun Kipa Loram, General Secretary Lokam Anand including SDFCSO Nabam Anand. DIPRO
