Basing upon specific input from source in the morning hours of 5th May 2017, a Company (D-Coy) of 16th Assam Rifles consisting of Major Ajit Chaudhary, one JCO and 20 Riflemen conducted search operation at Kamka village under Pongchau Circle of Longding district, towards India-Myanmar border. The company later handed over the said miscreants along with the seized materials to Longding Police Station and written FIR to the said effect was filed. On completion of investigation, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Longding, L L Singpho laid the charge sheet against the accused persons. The hearing of the case was conducted through Virtual Court using video conferencing due to the lockdown situation for Covid-19. Even though there was sufficient proof that the accused are members of NSCN-(K) who possessed illegal arms but due to lack of prosecution sanction and FSL report to that effect no conviction is recorded under Unlawful Activity (Prevention) Act and Arms Act against the accused person.
