ITANAGAR, Nov 26 : In an unfortunate incident, two labourers were tragically buried alive at a construction site in Doni Colony, Itanagar, today. The incident occurred when four workers were digging to construct a retaining wall when the earth suddenly caved in. The workers, who were in the process of excavation, were caught in the mudslide, leading to the unfortunate fatalities.
The deceased have been identified as Jahan Hemran, 45, and Vijay Bag, 46, both hailing from Dhekiajuli, Assam. The remaining two workers, Ganesh Oran and Joseph Dopnu, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Rama Krishna Mission Hospital for treatment.
A swift rescue operation was launched by Inspector Randhir Kumar Jha, along with personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local police. The rescue efforts, which began around 4:00 PM, continued for several hours, with teams working tirelessly to retrieve the bodies and assist the injured. The operation concluded around 9:00 PM, but unfortunately, the two workers trapped in the mud could not be saved.
A case of Unnatural Death has been registered at the Itanagar Police Station, and the bodies of the deceased have been kept in the mortuary at the hospital. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
